Thermal, CA – January 24, 2025 – Friday night’s $10,000 Interactive Mortgage 10 & Under Futurity Series gave 42 young horses the opportunity to shine under the lights at the Desert International Horse Park, but none shone brighter than Source Code. Jessica Gleason rode the 8-year-old Dutch Warmblood to victory by a margin of more than 2.5 seconds on January 24, during Desert Circuit 3, presented by American Wild Horse Conservation.

When Gleason entered the Grand Prix Arena, the time to beat over the Bernardo Costa Cabral-designed jump-off track had been set at 35.065 seconds by Guy Thomas and WT Leapalong. Gleason and Source Code made short work of that time, however, as they blazed across the finish in 32.638 seconds to ultimately take home the win. Sliding into second place with a time of 35.044 seconds was the penultimate pair to jump, Kaitlin Campbell and Karius, and Thomas and WT Leapalong took home third.

“[Source Code] has just impressed us every step of the way,” said Gleason of the gelding she has had for the past two years. “We’re really excited for his future. Right out of the gate, he has been the best you could ask for. He’s a super learner, and he’s so competitive. He just wants to do what you want him to do. He’s a big dork. He’s sweet and kind and one of the most gentle horses I’ve ever had in my life.”

While Friday night marked Source Code’s first time under the lights, he looked every bit a veteran as he navigated the first round with ease. From there, Gleason felt that she could go for it in the immediate jump-off.

“He really does like a forward ride; the faster the better!” said Gleason, who works as a rider and trainer for Oz Incorporated. “Leading into the jump-off…I thought, ‘We’re just going to leave [the strides] out and take a rip at it,’ and he really impressed me. We’re hoping at the end of the year to be in some grand prix, but tonight was really awesome for him.”
